The Rise collection was created as a reminder of the human capacity for transformation.

Much of Ana Kuni’s work is interconnected, forming an evolving visual narrative about a journey of unlearning and renewal. Just as the natural world is constantly shifting, dissolving, and taking new form, the human mind — when given care and attention — has the ability to expand beyond perceived limitations.

Each artwork in this collection represents a stage of that journey. It begins with shedding old beliefs, confronting uncomfortable truths, and allowing outdated thoughts to dissolve. In doing so, space is created for new possibilities to emerge.

Life–death–life cycles unfold continuously, guiding personal evolution and reminding us that some forces remain beyond human control. This awareness introduces the presence of a guardian — a guiding force that may appear through people in one’s life or through an inner voice of intuition.

The initial inspiration for the series came from a close friend of the artist who lost her home in a fire. She asked Ana to paint phoenix fire birds on the remaining wall as a symbol of resilience — a reminder that she would always have the power to rise again. This moment deepened the artist’s reflection on the role of community in transformation. When people face difficult moments together, they support one another and transform the space around them.

The creative process behind the works is layered. The pieces begin as physical sketches drawn and painted in watercolor, which are then scanned and further developed digitally to create luminous layers of light and form. The final artworks are printed on gold-toned metal, allowing light to pass through the layers and subtly change the appearance of the work throughout the day. Each piece is then hand-embellished, making every artwork unique.
